Jennifer Chambers
Jennifer Chambers is an environmental educator, small business owner, and civic activist. In 2004, she started Hiking Along, LLC., a small business to lead children in the exploration of D.C. metro trails and engage them in hands-on science labs about the trail’s physical features. She also developed Potomac Appalachian Trail Club’s Student Trail Steward program, a partnership with Northwood High School to engage students in field work and learning about human’s impact on trails and their surrounding ecosystems. She is also an Environmental Educator with Audubon Naturalist Society’s GreenKids program. Jennifer is a board member of the American Hiking Society. Besides her passion for trails and the environment, she served as Indian Spring Citizens’ Association President, working to make her neighborhood a pedestrian safe and friendly environment. She transferred this experience and knowledge to leading the Presidents’ Council of Silver Spring Civic Organizations (Prezco) efforts to advocate for and improve pedestrian safety in Silver Spring. As a former Northwood Cluster Coordinator and current Area Vice President in Montgomery County Parent Teacher Association, Jennifer strongly advocates for equal resources in Down County Consortium schools to improve student achievement and maintain vibrant programs.
